GMP Capital Trust and the GMP Group of Companies

GMP Capital Trust (TSX:GMP.UN) was formed in 2005 as a result of the conversion of, GMP Capital Corp. from a corporate entity into GMP Capital Trust, an income trust. GMP Capital Corp. was formed in 2003 when Griffiths McBurney & Partners and its subsidiaries completed a reorganization and initial public offering of the company. Griffiths McBurney & Partners was originally founded in March 1995 with the vision of creating an entrepreneurial, energetic and independent investment dealer focused on serving corporate clients and institutional investors. Griffiths McBurney & Partners became GMP Securities Ltd. in 2003 in conjunction with the IPO and was renamed and reorganized into GMP Securities LP (“GMP Securities”) in December 2005 when the income trust conversion took place.
